Garth Conboy, ETI’s President, is to present “eBooks II: Formats, Standards, and Implementation” today in New York. EPUB, as standardized by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF - http://www.idpf.org), will be explained in detail in addition to discussion of current adoption and future development. EPUB enables the creation and transport of reflowable digital books and other types of content as single-file digital publications that are interoperable between disparate EPUB-compliant reading devices and applications. EPUB encompasses a content markup standard (Open Publication Structure - OPS), a packaging standard (Open Packaging Format - OPF), and a container standard (Open Container Format - OCF). ETI’s senior staff have played pivotal roles in the organization since it’s inception. Garth Conboy (ETI’s President), John Rivlin (ETI’s CEO), and Brady Duga (ETI Senior Engineer) chaired and vice-chaired the technical working groups that designed the EPUB standard and its predecessor standards. |
